About
The rocky side of ultrarunning
Ultra East Side is a regional guide to trail ultrarunning around New York City — the Catskills, the Gunks, the Hudson Highlands, Harriman, Long Island, New Jersey and Connecticut. It's kept by a Catskills-based trail runner who got tired of piecing this information together from a dozen tabs.
What you'll find here
- A curated calendar of trail ultras — 50K and up, plus timed events — within a day's drive of the city.
- Course profiles in one consistent format, so you can actually compare races.
- Race reports and photo essays from local runners.
- Training routes near the city, each with a map, an elevation profile and a downloadable GPS file.
- Training plans tied to specific local races.
How the calendar is kept
Everything here is checked by hand, not scraped. Each race listing shows when it was last checked and links out to the race's own website and its UltraSignup page — this site never handles your registration or replaces the official source. Distances, climb and results come from the race, the GPS file, or published results. When something isn't known, the page says so rather than guessing.
Get something wrong? Please tell us — there's a correction link on every page.
What it isn't
No accounts, no logins, no comments, no ads. Just a well-kept guide. If you'd like to add a race, share a report, or send a route, head to the submit page.
